Summer 2004

Ryan was about to start his Senior year and Sevon was in her first Junior year at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. At the end of the previous school year we both applied to be part of the Engineering Ambassadors program in the University of Arizona's Engineering College and had both been accepted into the program! At the beginning of the 04-05 school year, the Engineering Ambassador's program had a meet and greet for all the ambassadors to meet the "newbies." Fellow "newbie" Steven Carrillo introduced us to each other that first day. We occasionally saw each other throughout that year at EA recruiting events and meetings, and a few times around campus.

The Engineering Ambassadors program had a White Elephant Exchange and Holiday party at a local Mexican restaurant. After having a beautiful vase and blanket stolen, Sevon stole Ryan's U of A shot glass from him (we still have this today!) Ryan accidentally asked Sevon out on a date and we guess you can say the rest is history! We ended up going back to Sevon's place and watching "Run Away Jury" (a very romantic choice) and staying up until the late hours getting to know each other (despite Ryan's important class paper due 2 days later).

Holidays 2004-2005

For a VERY long 3 weeks at Christmas time, we spent countless hours on the phone sharing our holiday stories learning about each other. We learned that both of our families love the Christmas holiday and have a lot of strong family traditions. Ryan's families say that they knew that Ryan and I were "something serious" because they know how rare it is to get him to talk on the Phone and he was on it for days! Ryan flew back into Phoenix a few days before the semester started, and Sevon drove up to Phoenix to pick him up!

Sevon decided to take Ryan home for a free meal and to meet the parents one weekend. It happened to be the evening of Glen and Shana's Murder Mystery party (unfortunately for us) and Ryan got to meet them and their closest friends in rare form (well, maybe not so rare after all)! Ryan had never seen grown adults acting like idiots before and described the experience as "old people gone wild!" something that he will never live down as long as he's part of the family.

We went to Las Vegas for Ryan's dad, Larry's, 50th birthday celebration in February! It was a wonderful trip, and was the first time that Larry and Brenda learned about Sevon's alternate identity -- Katie Fromkes -- who's birthday just happened to be 2 years before her actual birthday. :)

On the way home from this trip, we flew through San Diego and were given $100 cash and $400 in flight vouchers to spend 8 hours in San Diego (every college kid's dream)! We took a bus downtown, then took the trolley to the harbor to a "Tourism" stand that provided us with important information on how to get to the beach! We ended up spending the day on Mission Beach shopping, sunbathing (or rather sunburning) and enjoying a day in paradise! That is until Sevon's purse was stolen, don't worry we got it back, but Ryan was pretty beat up from the whole experience!
